Looking Back on Some Highlights of 2009

On August 29th the Bosomworth Family openned their home for a second 'extravaganza'. Over 1400 people came to view the 100 John Deere tractors, beautiful Fjord horses and literally thousands of other antiques that John & Eunice have been collecting for the past 20 years.

Because of the willingness and generousity of the Bosomworth family, the dozens of volunteers from the surrounding communities (respresenting half a dozen denominations), the contributions of area businesses and the appreciative attendees this event generated over $21,000 in donations for the CFGB.

As the partially cloudy and overcast day came to a close there was a brief rain shower followed by a beautiful double rainbow. One could not help but consider the transforming power of God's ever present gift of love. As surely as relics of agriculture's past had become items of new interest, the symbol of war and death can be transformed to a sign of peace and hope.

Late in the summer we welcomed Mary Beth Sanate as our People to People guest. Mary Beth is the Primary Functionary/Secretary of the Rural Women's Uplifement Society and works in Manipur, Northeast India in sustainable agricultural development supported in part by CFGB.

Mary Beth was hosted by families in Campden, Smithville, Burlington, Mooretown, London, Gilford and Thunder Bay as well as giving presentations in several other communities and spending one day at Canada's Outdoor Farm Show near Woodstock.

It was a priviledge to have Sam Vander Ende as our special guest for the series of fall information meetings in November and to have the opportunity to reconnect with a former CFGB staff member.

Despite a continuing global, economic and food crisis we feel incredibly blessed by the faith, love and generousity that we experience across the province. We thank all of those that provided encouragement, support and hope for the world's hungry. May you be as blessed as you have been a blessing to others.
